The soft red-brown timber is valued for its distinct appearance, aroma, and its high natural resistance to decay, being extensively used for outdoor construction in the form of posts, decking,shingles, siding, and so forth.

Hardwood (Blackbutt/Blue Gum)

The hardwood we supply for building is either Blackbutt or Blue Gum. We saw the timber specifically for your requirements, once your order is placed. The timber is supplied unseasoned off the saw.

The wood of these species is heavy (about 850 kg/m3), fairly hard, coarse, even textured and reasonably easy to work. It is used for general building construction, and is highly prized for flooring and furniture because of its rich dark honey colour. (see our flooring section)

Radiata Pine

Radiata Pine is a softwood used extensively in the construction industry. Our pine is commercially grown in sustainable plantations and is available in many different sizes.

Pacific Maple (Meranti)

Meranti is a maketing name given to a group of timber species with very similar traits. The heartwood varies from pale pink to dark red in the light and dark red groups and from white through straw to yellow in the yellow-white groups. Packs mostly made up of varried species.
Machines well to a smooth surface. However, some of the lower density boards may give a woolly cut if sharp tools are not used.
